Customers are mixed about the scrolling. Some mention that the touch scroll has a neat feature that buzzes to simulate a notched mouse scroll wheel. They also appreciate the tactile feedback by giving you a "bump" vibration as you are scrolling, and the tactile snapping mechanism is very cool. That said, they have two complaints, some say that the responsiveness, though the scroll function seems a bit sensitive, it feels a little awkward and occasionally loses the ability to scroll, and automatic scrolling often kicks in. They say the touch-based scrolling is hard to get used to and is not always as sensitive.

Customers are mixed about the comfort of the mouse. Some mention that the snapping mechanism feels great and acts as the mouse's power, while others say that it feels awkward and occasionally loses the ability to scroll. The connection is smooth and the mouse clicks feel good. However, some say that the ergonomics are not good and eventually, your hands will cramp up.

Things I Love:
- The aforementioned design. It's just brilliant in my eyes. The looks can be polarizing, but in my opinion I absolutely love it, especially since these days I'm so focused on electronics that travel well.
- No dongle. I've lost many USB dongles over the years, rendering my old mice worthless. It's nice to not have to worry about misplacing the USB transmitter this time!
- Quick, perfect connection. Not sure if this is due to it being a Bluetooth 4.0 device, but literally the second I snap on the mouse it connects and works perfectly. There is little to no input lag, and I've only noticed a hiccup in tracking once or twice (which was very negligible).
- Bluetooth connection. It frees up the USB port, allowing other devices to be used.
- The haptic feedback. The little scroll strip in the middle of the mouse makes noises and rumbles a bit to emulate the old fashioned scrall bars on traditional mouses. At first I thought it was a cute gimmick, but after having used it, it actually becomes quite useful. It allows for more accuracy and better scrolling. A lot of people don't like this, but you can download an app to turn the sound off (it's something that should've been built in to management software, but oh well).
- The battery. Sure, lots of people will bemoan the fact that this doesn't come with a rechargeable battery, but I actually embrace it. After having gone through many electronics over the years where the rechargeable battery just goes kaput (iPods, iPhones, Bluetooth Speakers, game controllers, etc.), I actually love that this uses AAA batteries. I've gone all week of constant use and this thing still has not let up. I always keep a spare set of batteries in my bag anyway, but even if that fails me any gas station, drugstore, shopping center, etc. sells them. The fact that it doesn't come with rechargeable batteries just means I can get many, many years out of this thing (like the bluetooth battery powered mouse I had that this replaces, which I've had since 2008 and is still working great).
Things I Didn't Like:
- The comfort level. It's not the most ergonomic mouse. For 30 minute spans it'll do, but any prolonged extended use just makes it feel awkward, and I found myself constantly adjusting my grip. However, with more and more use I find myself getting better adjusted to it. It'll turn a lot of people off initially based on first impressions from its feel and grip, but I'm sure given a few more weeks of extended use I'll get accustomed to it (similarly with how I accustomed myself to the Apple Magic Mouse, another notoriously uncomfortable mouse).
As you can see, there's not a lot I don't like about this mouse. Sure, comfort is a big issue for many, but I'm getting used to this mouse the more and more I use it. Overall - highly recommended.
However, I have a couple of warnings:
1) MUST HAVE BLUETOOTH 4.0!
I was scratching my head wondering why this thing wasn't connecting to my older Mac. It connects and works perfectly to my Retina Macbook and ASUS X205TA and hadn't the slightest clue why it wouldn't work with my older machines. After reading around, I found that this thing just will not work with any earlier Bluetooth tech. Definitely double check your equipment to make sure that this mouse will work with your computer before you purchase it.
2) Disconnecting Issue (and Fix)
When I used it with my X205TA, I found that it kept disconnected/powering down constantly. As in, I'll step away from my computer to make coffee and I'll come back to a powered down mouse. Turns out it was just a power management issue (I'm primarily a Mac user and didn't even realize this was an option). A simple settings edit will fix this.
The bluetooth is great because I don't need a dongle, and was the main reason I chose this one over the older Arc Touch mouse. (I believe the "Arc Touch for Surface" is identical to this variant besides color, but for more $) Note that you need bluetooth 4.0 however, the older bluetooth 3.0 will not work! It connects almost instantly to the computer after "bending" it on. The blue laser sensor seems very high quality and works on most surfaces. I had to adjust the sensitivity from default a little bit and turn on precision, as it was actually a little too sensitive for use on my small surface pro 2 screen, but now it is perfect.
I did not realize it before purchasing it, but the scroll wheel actually has haptic feedback. When you scroll your finger over it, it makes a slight clicking noise and vibrates a bit, giving it a similar feel to a traditional click wheel. It was surprising at first, but now I like it. You can configure the strength of the haptic feedback (or disable it) in the Arc Touch Bluetooth Settings app from the Microsoft Store. It also has a few configurable actions like double clicking scroll up+middle+down, which do page up/dn and scroll bubble by default.
UPDATE 4/1/16: Still working fine after two years. The battery life has been fantastic.
Except, if you're using Windows, maybe not, because the mouse will constantly disconnect from the computer whenever Windows *thinks* the Bluetooth adapter is not in use. You would think Microsoft would have this figured out between their Microsoft Windows operating system and their Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse, but sadly that is not the case. I can be moving the mouse across the screen, and whoops! lost the connection. Honestly, they should have a warning: Caution! May cause high blood pressure, heart attacks, and strokes!
The easy fix is to prevent Windows from turning off the Bluetooth radio on your computer. Don't worry, your laptop battery life probably won't get chopped in half. BLE is efficient enough without Windows interfering and mucking everything up. You can look at the pictures for a more detailed look at how to do the following steps:
1) Go to device manager
2) Go to the properties of the Bluetooth wireless adapter
3) Hit the power management tab and uncheck that awful box.
Other than that plague, the mouse itself is actually really nice. The thin design fits nicely in both backpack and pants pockets, it's got a solid snap when you turn it on, and it fits surprisingly comfortable in my hand. Also, the scroll wheel rarely gives me problems despite its lack-of-an-actual-wheel. Lastly, battery life is superb. I've been at the verge of breaking it several times, but am ultimately glad I never did.
