Running 4 in a RAID-0

Running 4 in a RAID-0
I purchased four of these during a killer Amazon sale ($60/each for 120 GB SATA-3 SSD's couldn't be beat anywhere regardless of brand). Price alone is my reason for purchasing these over anything else. From a performance standpoint I am unable to fully utilize their capabilites. My current board on has a 2-port Marvell 9128 SATA-3 connection (which is garbage for SSD's and most other things for that matter), and an Intel ICH10R, which is a great chipset but is only SATA-2. With 4 of these drives, even at SATA-2 speeds, I am maxing out the ICH10R's bandwidth. Once I upgrade my Motherboard/CPU I will be able to fully utilize the speed these drives are capable of (and be able to do TRIM in RAID-0 with Intel's new 7 series chipset). I did some speed benchmarks when I first got them, but I will have to update later with my results. Off the top of my head the large file transfer rate was really good for an SSD setup, which is fortunate since I do a lot of that.I have been using them for a few weeks under Windows 8. I haven't had any stability issues, no BSD's, and no other issues with running these drives. Power consumption is about the same as the four 160GB 7200 RPM Samsung drives these replaced (wattage meter on my UPS shows about the same power draw as before with no other hardware changes). If these are saving power over a standard hard drive it is only by a couple watts at most.I didn't use the 3.5" bay adapters with these, though they look nice. With 4 drives I saved space using a different adapter that allowed two 2.5" drives in a single 3.5" bay. The drives looks awesome though you can't really see them once installed.Overall, I have been happy with these drives, especially for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blazing! My new computer, now works like a new computer! 7.9 WEI!
Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2012
Now that the prices of SSD's have fallen drastically, I decided to get started with this very eye catching Kingston HyperX 3K. I have a 2011 model Dell Inspiron 17 that took FOREVER to boot, and become ready to surf after an astonishing 2 minutes 13 seconds. I was so fed up because I had the 8 gigs of ram, and the i7 CPU. I knew there was so much more this thing could do. With this SSD, I go from power on to ready to surf in 17 seconds. I swear, if you blink, you miss the Starting Windows 7 LOGO. Games load soo quick, surfing is lightning quick... it is like having a new computer, even though this IS a new computer. I didn't have to update the firmware, as it arrived with the latest update. Again, I went from a 5.9 Hard Drive rating, to 7.9 with this SSD. If you are leery about making the switch, don't be. This drive is silent, as in no sound. I was able to clone my other hard drive in about an hour. This is now my Primary drive. Now the slow 1TB mechanical 5400 RPM HDD, is just for storage. If you are on a budget and are looking to get into the SSD market, I strongly suggest you give this one a shot.

I will of course update if there are any issues... but I don't see that happening.

Props to you, Kingston. Great price, great drive!

**UPDATE** As of May 10, still smokin fast. NO issues!
