The book is divided into nine chapters. The first chapter presents a brief historical sketch of entrepreneurial growth in India and an exhaustive review of the available literature on entrepreneurship. The second chapter deals with the design of the study. Chapters three and four discuss the criteria for identification of entrepreneurial role-set and explicate entrepreneurial roles. Chapters five, six and seven examine the relevance of entrepreneurial roles as standards for evaluating entrepreneurial performance. Chapter eight evaluates entrepreneurial performance in terms of relevant or effective roles. The last chapter integrates the findings and also presents some theoretical and applied implications of the study.


Abour The Author :-


Krishan Lal Sharma (born : 14 July 1943) is Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. He did his M.A. in sociology from Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, and Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. In the beginning, Dr Sharma worked in the field of sociology of religion at Kashi Vidyapith from August 1965 to December 1966 on a research fellowship from the University Grants Commission. He changed his area of specialization to industrial sociology while working at I.I.T., Kanpur and Sri Ram Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources, Delhi. He has always been interested in theory and methodology. He has published a number of papers in sociology of religion, sociological theory, entrepreneurship, and industrial relations. At present he is directing a research project on inter-state entrepreneurial growth sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research.
