It's much quieter to use than an air impact, which I appreciate.
The LED light only comes on if you turn on a semi-hidden, cheap feeling switch at the base of the handle. I thought the LED was broken until I read the instructions and found the switch.
I wish it had a proper click-to-change-direction switch like my smaller Makita impact and drill. The rocker switch invites people to accidentally tighten instead of loosen, as the trigger has a larger spot to press on for tighten than loosen. It just feels awkwardly designed.
The battery attachment point is dampened from the rest of the tool's vibration, so if you hold it in your hand with your finger on the trigger and shake it, you can see the battery flop around a little. Again, it feels awkward, but I'm sure it's better than all the vibration wrecking the battery electronics.
It certainly has some weight to it. I had my 15 year old daughter use it while having her take off the snow tires on her Mom's minivan and I think she can probably beat up half the boys in her class now from the extra muscles she built up hauling this tool around.
If they got rid of the rocker switch and put a proper trigger on it, and if they at the very used a more easily discovered, higher quality switch to turn the LED on (or just had it come on with the trigger like all my other Makita battery powered tools) I'd have given this 5 stars.
The build quality is excellent. The plastic seems to be a very tough, high quality grade of plastic. Everything fits together nicely. It isn't light weight, but that gives a sense that it is a high quality tool. Although, I can see my arms getting tired holding it while laying under a car.
