The international ISO print speed standard
Print speed is critically important when buying a printer or all-in-one. But how do you compare print speeds when different manufacturers measure it in different ways? Now you can. Much like the “MPG” ratings on new cars, there’s now an industry standard for measuring print speed, which allows for an “apples-to-apples” comparison between different printer models and brands. The International Organization for Standardization (widely known as ISO) developed this industry-approved and internationally accepted standard, specifically for inkjet printers and all-in-ones. It measures “out of the box” (default) print speeds using “real world” printing scenarios, so you can be sure you’re getting a product that performs at the speed you need.

Extremely low-quality parts = a printer that won't last a year, even with light use
Bought this in April of 2014 and it worked just fine for about 9 months or so. I used it lightly, just for printing a coupon every month or two and to print papers for school about a dozen times. Occasionally I needed to clean the head or re-align to correct printer quality issues, but once I ran through the maintenance it was back to printing good again. I read that Epson printers ate through ink cartridges quickly, but since I didn't need to use my printer much, and definitely not for printing color-eating photographs/drawings/art, and so I wasn't worried about that. Plus, with affordable ink cartridges available on Amazon I just bought a double pack of Black & Color cartridges and I still have extras I haven't used. The problem is that I won't be using those extra cartridges I still have left over from last year, and that is because this printer is a piece of junk and now appears to have somehow wrecked itself despite light use and never moving its location. Now whenever I print something one of two results occur: either it prints with roughly 90% of its color missing, or, in the case of black-ink only prints, it prints with about 80% of the intended black ink writing missing and black ink swirls and spots cover the entire paper. Technically the printer still works, but each time I try to print something I only waste paper and ink now, and I never get the intended product I wanted printed no matter what type of maintenance I run. The photo attached is what the alignment page looks like now.. As you can see, I can no longer finish the realignment maintenance because the printer won't even print the test sheet correctly, like a vision test gone horribly awry. I just tried to print a form for school and it looks even worse, but I just don't have the heart to retrieve the crumpled wad of paper from my trash bin and photograph that one, too/I purchased this printer on sale for $70 last year, and even if it drops again from it's $99 list price again I would not recommend this piece of junk for even $20. I'm looking for a new printer to purchase now and hopefully I can at least find an electronics recycling center nearby so some poor soul doesn't happen upon it if I simply toss it in the dumpster. The box it came in made for a nice stand for my box fan during the Summer, at least.
