Previous Review: I am not reviewing a working version of the ladder. This is a review of a ladder received defective right out of the box. It was shipped to me from Amazon's Return Center ...
I ordered the 22' version as I have one area in my home that is two stories tall. I just got this ladder delivered today. I was really looking forward to it. It is a beast of a ladder ... very, very heavy. It took me some struggling just to get it out of the box. I had to rip the entire length of the box out, which now I regret. I'll explain in a bit.
Once I got the ladder out of the box, I read the instructions and watched some instructional videos. I went to my ladder to practice with it. There are knobs on both sides at the top of the ladder when it is in A-Frame position (which is the position it is shipped in) to unlock to pull the legs out to make it a true A-Frame ladder. You simply push the two knobs in to unlock the top hinge of the ladder and pull the legs away from the other side to widen the A-Frame stance. Couldn't be easier! So far so good.
Then to increase the height of the A-Frame ladder, there are four U-shaped pins with one end of each pin in a hole in both sides of each leg of the ladder keeping the height from moving. To increase the height you start with one side of the A-Frame and pull out each of the pins on both sides. Then you move the top of the ladder away from you and the side of the A-frame facing you will lengthen.
BUT, one U-shaped pin on both sides of the A-Frame on my ladder were stuck almost like they were soldered in place. I could unlock one pin on the side of the A-frame facing me, but not both, so I could not lengthen the ladder. It would not budge.
At first I thought it couldn't be. I asked a couple of questions on here about it wondering what I was doing wrong. I watched more instruction videos. I wrestled with the pins. I studied the mechanism of it. Nope, doesn't work. I was doing it correctly, but I could not heighten the A-frame ladder as I'm supposed to be able to due to the two stuck pins.
Now, for the regret on the box. Looks like I am going to have to somehow wrestle that extremely heavy beast of a ladder back into the box and tape up the very long length-wise side I had to rip apart and try to return this defective ladder.
There is no way to lengthen one side of the A-frame without being able to unlock both pins on that side, and on mine, I can only unlock one on each side of the A-frame. How disappointing.
I think I could have gotten used to handling the weight of the ladder for the special purposes I needed it for if it had worked. I don't know if I'll reorder risking the chance of getting another defective ladder.
One would hope they would have some kind of controls or checks before shipping such a big, heavy ladder, but I guess not. It's strange how this ladder was sent to me from Amazon's Return Center. I'm wondering if someone returned this same ladder before it was sent to me.
The photos show:
1. The ladder right after being unboxed.
2. One of the U-shaped pins that locks the height in place.
3. An unlocked U-shaped pin for the height adjustment.
4., 5., and 6. A U-shaped pin that is stuck and will not unlock; therefore, making it where one cannot adjust the height of the ladder.
Update: I did decide to exchange this hoping to get one that works.

The ladder is of a quality and weight not usually found at Home Depot or any other similar store (heaven knows, I tried because I needed it right away). It is also a product that requires a second person to set up. It is too large and heavy for one person to set up correctly (never mind re-fold and carry around). But it is also a ladder that, even if stored outdoors (as ours must be) will last for a long time. Well worth the price and the piece of mind that it isn't going to collapse on or get premature metal fatigue and you send you crashing to the ground, scraping your legs and arms as you fall.
(Does it sound like I'm speaking from experience here?

For the non-handy person (such as myself), the latches were very intuitive; changing the height of the ladder was a breeze. Simply pull out a hook, adjust the width or height, and lock it back in. It locks with a bang!
The ladder is quite heavy, so be sure to compare it's weight to others on your comparison lists. For a smaller person, this might be a challenge to move around the house for say, a painting project.
I wanted a ladder that would last forever, so I wouldn't have to buy another, and have as many configurations as possible. So far, I've been able to get on my roof to clean the gutters, paint a room and do some pruning on tall trees in my backyard. This ladder does it all.
I would recommend this to anyone who is seeking high quality products that will last a lifetime. If budget is a concern, or you only plan to use a ladder a handful of times, this probably isn't the right choice for you.
