✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫ but where are the accents??

I love the Rough Riders series! I decided to go back to the beginning and listen to the audiobooks since I've only read this series. I actually started with book 2 (long story) but since it's been years since I read this book it was like the first time. I love that this book gives us 2 couples and 2 love stories but only 1 book. This series is super hot and I love those McKay boys, this book just reminded me how much I missed these families and I am excited to continue with the audiobooks.

The narration was a bit of an issue for me. She was good, I enjoyed her deep sultry voice but this is a western.... where are the accents?? It totally threw me off that they don't have any southern accents, isn't that a big reason to listen to the audiobooks, well it was for me anyway.

Fantastic Western Sexy As Hell Romance

Book 2.
After the first book, Long Hard Ride, it was a no brainer to just continue right over to this book. What a lovely treat because you get 2 awesome hot romances in this book.
I love that the characters carry over from book to book and in this story you get to read more about Big Cash Crow and Gemma. They were introduced in the first book and I love that warranted their own awesome story.
Gemma & Big Cash Crow are a bit of an older couple in the traditional sense. However that is the draw for me. I love that the author made an amazing romance for a couple in their late thirties and forties. It was just as hot as anything that I have read.

The next couple is another McKay brother, Carter and his story is how he falls in love with Macie (Big Cash Crow's daughter). I loved the family dynamics in this story. You have a daughter/father healing relationship as well as the rough and tumble of a western erotic romance. Both couples have two coming together stories and it was just an awesome read. I know they say you dont have to read the books in order but it is just better if you do. You will just appreciate the character growth if you do.

Rebecca Estrella was again amazing with the delivery of the story.
The books in the series are less than 10 bucks to buy so I am going to enjoy the whole series.

Almost Good Older Woman/Younger Cowboy Romance

I had great hopes for a modern western drama about an 40+ widow (Gemma) finding love for a 2nd time with a 30+ hot cowboy (Cash) and his daughter (Macie) who he barely knows. Unfortunately, Cash immediately demands total sexual dominance from Gemma, an independent ranch owner who hired Cash as her foreman. When Gemma agrees without reservation to become a doormat, I wanted to scream and started to loose interest. Of course, Cash isn't quite so open-minded about sexual freedom when his 22 year old daughter Macie starts dating a part-time ranch hand/artist. I enjoyed listening as Cash learns to build a relationship with his grown daughter, Gemma becomes friendly with Macie, Cash learns to work with the guy dating Macie and Macie becomes more confident. There were some fun sex scenes but too many involved domination, hitting, and bondage of women. I can't help thinking: if getting tied up & beaten was that much fun, the men would be wanting the treatment, not dishing it out.

Two Love Stories for the Price of One

Two couples: Cash & Gemma, the former rodeo cowboy down on his luck due to trust in undeserving family members and the widowed rancher who needs help and some loving. Carter & Macie: The loner artist who doesn't fit in with his ranching brothers and the wandering young lady who has never had family she could count on. Yet somehow they are able to build relationships to make a new family.

For those that are squeamish about sex, there is plenty of it in this book -- threesomes, anal sex and dirty talking.

Desenesizing !!!

Just kind of seemed like there wasn't much of a story and all sex and after a while it just got old. I seriously started fast forwarding through the sex. Who does that, right?

This Series is My Guilty Pleasure...Like Chocolate

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I love this series and would love it more if the stories were deeper. However, it is not...each book has some cowboy/ranch stuff but the series is mostly superficial, gritty, romance and sex. The details don't always match up but, who cares? Not me...it is my guilty pleasure!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting is the cowboy artist, Carter. I don't think I've ever come across that mix.

The 'least interesting' - it is difficult to keep all the brothers straight as they all have names that start with 'C'.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

She is o.k. - but as I'm listening to them back to back I realize she doesn't have much range.

Did Rode Hard, Put Up Wet inspire you to do anything?

Any additional comments?

NOTE: Adult themes and language....NOT a sweet romance.

Put up Wet ! Yep that's about the jist of it :)

Any additional comments?

With Rode Hard Put Up Wet we of course get all-kinds-of-ways hot and steamy cowboy lovin but here we also get the added bonus of a two-four. As in 2 couples finding love and passion in 1 sexy story and how great is that....

We met our first couple; Gemma and Big Cash Crow in LONG HARD RIDE and although they’re older in the traditional sense (30’s & 40’s) both still very much have the “it” factor when it comes to spice in the bedroom. I loved their story and definitely preferred it out of the two. Cash even gave me a couple of *sigh* moments when he finally turned the lights on and opened his eyes… Their romance is about second chances, no matter what stage of life you’re in.

Explosive, impulsive, selfish, jealous, unsure, intense and at times downright annoying; Cash’s daughter Macie and self-centered artist Carter McKay as our second couple personified young love. This pair was all over the place with their emotions and a ton of fun to watch as I never knew what they were going to do next. I had a seriously tough time liking Carter though --as Macie often says “He’s a dumbass” Finding him immature and for the most part just an idiot. Cash on the other hand is all MAN...

Widow Gemma Jansen is looking for someone to help manage her ranch, luckily she knows just the sweet cowboy for the job. Cash Big Crow has just retired from the rodeo circuit and is looking to reconnect with his grown daughter Macie. Going to work for Gemma might be just the answer everyone’s looking for. Giving Cash and Macie the opportunity to settle in one place and get to know each other and Gemma the hired hand she needs. Of course before Cash agrees he has a few non-negotiable conditions; theres won’t be a strictly working relationship, Gemma might be the boss lady during the day but once in the bedroom Cash is going to be in charge, no questions asked.

To complete our foursome we’re also introduced to ranch hand and I’m too sexy for my boots/tortured artist Carter McKay. He takes one look at Macie and realizes he’s found his perfect muse. The artist in him begging to paint her, sculpt her and just plain have her. This doesn’t sit well with Cash, he knows all to well the reputations of those hard living, womanizing McKay boys and there ain’t no way one of them is getting near his daughter. Oh theres sure to be fun and games and even a few dust ups at the Bar-9 this summer.

As much as I enjoyed this it certainly wasn’t my favourite in the series and it took me a while to figure out why I was having a harder time connecting with this story. But with 2 couples and 4 POV’s it just wasn’t as tight. And with all the switching back and forth neither couple ever felt complete. Anyways, a very small gripe for another great instalment......

Carter & Macie <3

I like the narrator, she doesn’t distract you from the story. I wasn’t focused on how she was saying the words but what she was actually saying.

I liked that there were two romances going on in this book.
Gemma and Cash were dancing around each other in LHR so it was nice to get a resolution to their story so quickly.
Macie(Cash’s daughter) and Carter was an incredibly beautiful depiction of love between two lost souls.
I can’t wait to see what Book 3 will bring.

Two romances in one book

Jemma tracks down Cash Big Crow to be the foreman at her ranch. They had been attracted to each other on the rodeo circuit. Carter McKay works at Jemma's as a ranch hand and is working on an art project he is putting in an art show featuring Cash's daughter, Macie who has joined her dad at the ranch as they are trying to get better acquainted with each other. Sparks fly for the older and younger couples. The major problems all four have is trust. I enjoyed the book, but could have done with less kinky sax.
