This is an incredibly feature packed looper pedal for the money and Boss quality. I bought this because when I would jam alone, I'd find a cool riff or chord progression, but hit a wall trying to flesh out an idea with only two hands and my mortal levels of split coordination.
Now when inspiration hits, I can throw together a 3 to 5 layer backing loop in a half hour and save it to rock out any time. It really takes your solo brainstorming sessions to a new level.
As far as I can tell, the loop sound reproduction is seamless, so don't worry about poor fidelity. Also, the built-in drum tracks function like a metronome so they can be changed or turned off in your saved loops.
The only downside I've had with the RC-3 is that the controls can feel clumsy because record, undo, stop, and erase are all routed through the one foot switch. The additional accessory pedal is an absolute must-have if you intend to gig with the looper.
100% recommend this pedal whether you're a casual player looking to experiment or a studio pro looking for a new tool at a good price.

The RC-3 is powerfully equipped yet conveniently housed in a compact pedal. Enjoy up to three hours of stereo recording time, storage for 99 loops, a “real drums” rhythm guide, and USB 2.0 compatibility all in a small BOSS stompbox.
To keep your loops tight and in time, you can play along with one of the basic rhythm patterns in the RC-3’s onboard library as you record. Ten types of rhythm types are provided, including Rock, Pop, Funk, Shuffle, R&B, and Latin. A dedicated knob lets you adjust the volume of the rhythm, and you can set the tempo via tap tempo. You can also specify the time signature. When you save a phrase, the rhythm type and time signature will also be saved.

This pedal does it all!
After buying a different peal, returning it, getting another one that still didn't work, I spent the extra money to buy this one. This one does everything I need it to do. It takes a little time getting some presets perfectly timed. But once you've got it, you can save it. Having the F5-6foot switch is a plus if you're going to be saving verse, chorus and bridge on a song and playing live.
