Very easy to set up and the sound is, well....just great!
The Mic is heavy....you will notice this right away. Not a cheap-o mic at all. Quality is outstanding and it really brings out the low tones in your voice.
I use a dead cat over the Mic just to be sure I don't have any popping from the mic. Talk close and directly in front of the mic for best results.
By the way, Skype users will love this mic. Makes a huge difference on calls.
One note: My kit included a white Rode Podcaster USB microphone, a black spider mount, a black arm and a white USB cord. Some of the pictures show the mic being an almost silver color, as well as the arm and spider mounts being white, with black USB cords. Not sure if those pics are wrong, just letting you know what colors I got. Bottom line: if you can afford this set, absolutely get it.
Well worth the price. Highly recommended.
I only wish the installation instructions were more clear. There is lots of hardware that is unused and it was not clear if there were any special things I should know. I had to search online and figure out by pictures how to connect the mic to the mount and the mount to the arm. In the end, it was simple.
It also was not clear from the description that the volume knob is not an input volume knob but an output volume knob. The output can be used as a monitor and as an output device on the computer. Very helpful that they both go through the same channel, though I am concerned that the mic gets mixed on the spot, whereas the input has a delay down the wire. Not so important for a podcast but for a singalong could mess things up.
Anyway, buy it if you want good voice quality.
