At $179 for a refurb unit, no brainer.
4 Stars
At $179 for a refurb unit, no brainer.
For the price and what you get this is a great monitor though it does have it's flaws. The lesser cons are the menu system, the buttons aren't very responsive and after getting used to a joystick menu system... Well it is what it is. The stand isn't bad but isn't good either. Not front heavy and sturdy which is good, but no adjustment at all which I'd complain about if this weren't so inexpensive. That said it's not gamer looking which I appreciate and at $179 spending extra on a third party stand isn't a big deal which I'll probably get around to at some point in the future. The big con is for some reason when the monitor goes into standby it loses connection to the PC. I've never had another monitor do this and keeps me from recommending this as a main monitor in a dual monitor setup. If you are only using this monitor it's fine. If you are using 2 it can cause some strange things to happen depending on where your windows were before the monitor powers down. Since I'm using it as a secondary monitor it's not a deal breaker, and if you set screen to blank instead of going into standby you will never notice the issue, but it is there. The Pro is by far the panel. I don't need a color accurate setup but after a bit of tweaking the colors are on par with my Dell monitor (good enough for government work but if I needed color accuracy I'd have to calibrate and to be honest I'd probably look for something more creator oriented). Screen brightness is also good and as I prefer IPS to TN a nice bright IPS screen at 1440p is pretty yummy. The games I play are not that dependent on the response time of the monitor but I can tell the difference with a couple, though the difference between 120Hz (my 24" monitor) and 144Hz is slim to none with the games I play (or maybe my old eyes) but again 27" 1440p 144Hz at $179, say what now?My largest complaint is because of the standby issue I don't feel comfortable buying another one of these for a dual 27 setup, but since I need to get a bigger desk first I have some time to research another good budget 27.Tldr; Great single or second monitor if you don't mind the ok stand and meh menu system when occasionally available for $179. If money is no object there are a lot of other monitors from $250 - $400 that will probably suit your needs as well or better without some of the flaws of this one but if very budget conscious this is a great deal when available.Edit: It should be noted that only 1 HDMI port supports 144hz, I've noticed a few reviews mentioning Nvidia cards not working at 144hz, definitely does but not on the HDMI 1.4 which will max out at 75HZ. That said why the included cable does not support 2.0 I can't understand but I had a spare HDMI 2 cable and my laptop with an nvidia card works fine at 144.

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080 (Gigabyte GForce G1 Gaming), attached via DisplayPort. Stock clocks and fan.

First impression: solid packaging kept this monitor in perfect shape for shipping. Out of the box, the first thing I noticed was how solid the stand was, and the light weight of the monitor. Stand took 10 seconds to set up, and another 5 seconds to *click* the monitor on, which was very intuitive.

After plugging in power and display port, the monitor automatically chose the correct input and displayed Windows. Immediately noticed the crisp colors, sharp edges, and shockingly good contrast for an IPS panel. The colors, to my eye, look very accurate and I haven't changed them at all. I immediately went into the monitor settings and changed into Adaptive Sync mode (hardware vertical sync) which caused the monitor to turn black for a few seconds, then display my screen again. EASY. I also noticed that the monitor was refreshing at 144Hz in the information page for the OSD. This rate is only supported over DisplayPort, HDMI can't handle it.

The first game I fired up was Risk of Rain 2, which my GPU had a hard time keeping at 60 frames with VSync on. With Adaptive Sync, I get a solid 120+ FPS and buttery smooth action. Adaptive Sync really is one of the best features of modern day monitors.

I also tested this with Escape from Tarkov and Hell Let Loose and had the same buttery smooth picture. For FPS games, the contrast really stands out as a key feature for peering into dark rooms, or complexly shadowed environments like forests.

Pros:
* Almost certainly the best monitor at this price for the feature set (2K, 144Hz, Async)
* Amazing feature set for the price, and no goofy RGB, "gamer" stuff, icons, lights or anything like that
* Minimal setup and easy menus
* Excellent contrast
* Excellent response rate allows buttery smooth image without noticeable blur
* Automatic input detection

Cons:
* Menu buttons are on the back of the monitor, so it's hard to feel which button your fingers are placed on
* Ergonomics concerns if you're anal about monitor positioning, or need it to be vertical (you will need to buy a VESA stand)
* Minor light bleed in the corners, to be expected with an IPS panel. It's impossible to find a panel without it.

So, this review is for the VX2758-2KP-MHD, which has a 27" 1440, 144hz, IPS panel. I bought this to replace a very old 19" monitor (that didn't even reach 1080, I think that it maxed at 1050. yeah. that old). Anyhoo, with that being said I obviously am unable to compare it to other models that have similar specs. However, compared to my ancient monitor, and with just the tiniest amount of tweaking, this thing clearly blows the old monitor right out of the water.

It is bright, it is clear, it is fast. I do some gaming (Minecraft , Civ) and some photo refinishing. While this monitor, from the perspective of absolutes, is clearly the best thing on the market for neither of these activities, it is way more than acceptable. Considering that both super high end gaming monitors and super high end photo finishing monitors are incredibly expensive and really require not only the proper equipment (think outrageously expensive video cards) to make the most of their more extreme features, but also a finely tuned environment as well, this monitor is a perfect sweet spot for a consumer grade monitor.

I bought this monitor on sale for $319. My biggest beef was that Amazon sold it before they actually had it in stock when it clearly stated that is was IN STOCK. This caused about a 2 1/2 week delay in delivery.

The tweaks that I had to make:
1. as mentioned in other reviews in other places, the color temp was just a little bit warm. That was an easy fix. 2. The color range needed to be switched from auto to full-range, and
3. the setting to enable FreeSync (don't remember what the setting is called) needed to be enabled as well.

The video card that I use to run this is an RX580.

Additional notes,
1. you will need to use a displayport cable to make the most of the monitor, which is not included in the box. So add one to your amazon cart.
2. Some users have noted that the build/construction quality is a little bit chincy, the monitor stand in particular - this is true. The monitor can in no way be mistaken for something that has been ruggedized. But it is a monitor afterall, you should be handling it with kid gloves. Also you can buy and aftermarket mount and mount it anyway you like.

For the price I cannot complain about these shortcomings. In comparison shopping, any other monitors available with similar specs (1400, 144, IPS, freesync, 27") cost much much more.

If you are looking to get into that sweet sweet 1440 zone, the VX2758-2KP-MHD is a pretty good place to start.

iv had this monitor since 2019 and it has been absolutely perfect for everything i needed it for. It enabled my higher end computer to shine using a Display Port, and it also has 2 HDMIs on top of that that i can use for my work laptop and also my Playstaion 5 using the Higher end HDMI they give you by default.

switching between these 3 displays is literally a 2 button press and can be done in a few seconds tops.

the color settings are very easy and the monitor UI is some of the best iv seen. you can also see the power consumption in the UI and see when you are pushing the monitor too hard.

this monitor DOES sync with nvidia control panel for G sync using its Freesync without issue and works as advertised.

i prefer IPS monitors and this one is a fantastic IPS and all specs are as advertised.

since 2019 iv had zero issues with it, and its been an amazing primary monitor.

when i first received this monitor i did return the first one as it had some dead pixels on the side of it. but if you are in the market for monitors you will see this is pretty common with high end monitors and you will very likely have to return them until you receive one without dead pixels. but iv had zero dead pixels for the past 5 years and am very impressed.

if you are looking for an absolutely stellar primary monitor, this is a great choice.

I upgraded from a 144hz 1080p TN panel. Heres my review for VX2758-2KP-MHD:

Pros:
1. Colors are too nice, it reminds me of an OLED display.
2. 144 Hz GSYNC compatible gaming is great - note you need to buy a DP cable as in the box you get HDMI only and that sucks
3. Massive upgrade in clairy compared to my 1080p - if you are on the fence and think it wont make a difference, it makes ALOT of difference.
4. Price is insanely good compared to comeptitors!

Cons:
1. Crap stand - can mount VESA to the desk
2. Crap HDR but thats a given in todays monitors.

Overall 9/10 - Highly recommended

Like : No Dead pixels, spot on colours, looks great even with 1080p content, good size, audio out to speakers is pretty solid, black uniformity is pretty good, only a very little backlight bleed on the left edge, not distracting (and I'm pretty fussy)

dislike: in-built speakers are pretty useless, navigation buttons are a pain (Viewsonic will you please go to joystick navigation already), price in sg is way higher than in My and US. if you can wait and forgo warranty buy from the US.

have to accept: this has the usual IPS glow which means overall black level isnt great , but because its uniform my brain can edit out the gray. not great for space movies but then only a good TV or OLED monitor would be. I stream on this without feeling anguish, which was impossible on my earluer prism c315 which had bad backlight bleed on the edges.

gaming specs : I'm not a fast or comp gamer, I play mainly story based titles so cant comment.

note: the listing says VX2758, but what got sent was the newer version VX2705 - which is nice. only upgrade is 2xHDMI 2.0ports instead of 1xHDMI 2.0 and 1x HDMI 1.4. Also, what is up with the naming conventions at Viewsonic?

All in all, I love viewsonic products and quality is usually tip

Great display - note that 144hz only capable with one of the HDMI ports ! Wish you could move the monitor up and down but otherwise great display
