  • From the manufacturer

    X70

The FUJIFILM X70 brings first-class performance in a small, pocketable package to the Fujifilm X family. It is the first X-Series camera with a touchscreen display that rotates 180 degrees so you have the versatility to shoot from up high, down low or even capture selfies. Take this lightweight performer on all your travels and keep amazing images at the tip of your fingers.

    X-Trans Sensor

    Film Simulation

    New Compact, High-Performance Lens

The FUJIFILM X70 features a 18.5mm F2.8 wide-angle fixed lens capable of covering everything from snapshots to landscapes. The new lens, specifically developed for the FUJIFILM X70, has an optical construction of seven elements in five groups, including two aspherical lenses to correct distortion. Furthermore, the wide aperture lens combines with the sensor to deliver an impressive level of detail with even light distribution across the entire frame.

    16.3-megapixel APS-C sized X-Trans CMOS II sensor

Due to the X-Trans CMOS II sensor architecture that eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) and integrates FUJFILM's originally developed color filter array, the FUJIFILM X70 reproduces scenes with resolution and clarity rivaling a larger sensor.

X-Trans CMOS II sensor incorporates an original color filter array with a highly random pattern, eliminating the need for an optical low-pass filter (OLPF). These filters are used in conventional systems to inhibit moiré at the expense of resolution. The X-Trans CMOS II sensor array lets the sensor capture unfiltered light from the lens, achieving an unprecedented level of resolution.

    Film Simulation

Over decades of film manufacture Fujifilm has perfected the skill of color reproduction and it lives on in the FUJIFILM X70. Pleasing skin tones, natural blues and greens, and the ability to perfectly record the diversity of white balance conditions throughout the day are all taken in the camera's stride, and it also boasts a wide dynamic range for better reproduction of detail.

Film Simulation, perfected through Fujifilm's passion and philosophy of color reproduction over 80 years of photographic film manufacturing, allows users to create the colors and tones of photographic film, delivering high quality results with ease. If you shoot RAW, the in-camera RAW processing function enables any of the 11 Film Simulation options to be applied post-capture, broadening your shooting options.

    Touchscreen

Shoot at any angle with the 180 degree tilting LCD screen

A 3.0-inch 1.04M-dot 180 degree tilting LCD screen allows users to shoot from a wide variety of angles, such as low angles and high angles, and flipping the screen 180 degrees upwards is perfect for selfies. The FUJIFILM X70's wide-angle lens is ideal for high-quality self-portraits that include your surroundings too.

Enjoy Simple Playback And Shooting With the First X-Series Touchscreen

The FUJIFILM X70 is the first X-Series model to feature touchscreen control. When shooting, the touchscreen allows users to select a focus area and use Touch Shot to take a picture quickly. During playback, smartphone-style gestures can be used, including swipe, drag, pinch-zoom and double tap enlargement, offering a different experience to viewing images using buttons.

    Auto Mode Selector Lever

Selecting Auto on the top-plate Auto Mode Selector Lever switches the FUJIFILM X70 to Advanced SR Auto, where it automatically selects the optimal settings according to the scene. This delivers instant high-quality results with settings chosen based on 54 pre-programmed scenes.

AF system captures the subject perfectly

High-speed AF with on-board phase detection pixels

The camera's Intelligent Hybrid AF system combines the excellent autofocus speed of Phase Detection AF with the strong low light performance of Contrast AF. The phase detection elements on the image sensor delivers autofocusing speeds of up to 0.1 sec*. A new algorithm has also enhanced performance in low light and low contrast conditions.

    * Fujifilm research based on CIPA guidelines in High-Performance mode as of January, 2016.

    Six different AF modes

The new Zone and Wide/Tracking modes ensure that sideways movements are captured.

    AF-S + Single Point

Delivers highly accurate autofocus on a specific area. Choose any one of 49-point focus areas, then select the size of the area in five different levels.

    AF-S + Zone

Effective for a subject with moderate movements, which the Single Area mode may have difficulty capturing. Choose a 3x3, 5x3 or 5x5 AF area. Use the centrally-positioned 3x3 and 5x3 phase detection AF areas for faster autofocusing speeds.

    AF-S + Wide/Tracking

The camera automatically selects and focuses using several of the 77-point focus areas. This is ideally suited to subjects with unpredictable movements, or multiple moving subjects.

    AF-C + Single Point

Pin-points a subject with a fixed direction of movement, e.g. moving towards the camera. Choose any one of 49-point focus areas, and select the size of the area in five levels.

    AF-C + Zone

Tracks a subject when shooting hand-held, using a 3x3, 5x3 or 5x5 area to maintain focus. Choose the phase detection AF areas for faster autofocusing speeds.

    AF-C + Wide/Tracking

Perfect for capturing a subject that moves unpredictably up/down, left/right and closer/further from the camera. Suitable for shooting with a tripod, simply pick the starting position to start tracking the subject.

    Electronic Shutter

    Instax

    Ultra-fast electronic shutter

The camera features a mechanical shutter of up to 1/4000 sec as well as an electronic shutter of up to 1/32000 sec. This allows you to shoot with wide apertures even in bright sun to create beautiful bokeh effects. You can select either the mechanical shutter, electronic shutter or both.

    Interval Timer shooting

The start time, number of shots, and interval can all be set by the camera, allowing use for time-lapse shooting and shots taken with the self-timer. The camera can be set to take 1 - 999 shots over intervals of 1sec - 24 hours.

    FUJIFILM Camera Remote

With the new dedicated 'FUJIFILM Camera Remote' application, you can focus and trigger the camera release from your smartphone or tablet. The app not only lets you adjust focus, but also control settings like shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and ISO sensitivity. You can even apply other settings like Film Simulation, self-timer, and flash while 'Touch AF' lets you focus from your phone or tablet, too. Imagine all the situations where this smart assistant will come in handy! Take commemorative group photos with yourself in the shot, capture wildlife photos, or remotely release the shutter for night shots free from camera shake. The photographic possibilities are endless.

    On-the-spot instax printing!

You can easily send photos directly to the instax share Smartphone Printer SP-1 for great quality prints of their family, friends, pets and more. Additionally, portrait images are produced with a pleasant out-of-focus background for amazing one-of-a-kind instant prints — perfect for home décor.

Why I love the Fujifilm X70 but prefer the Ricoh GR
    4 Stars
Why I love the Fujifilm X70 but prefer the Ricoh GR
As a longtime user of the Ricoh GR, I bought an X70 to do a side-by-side test. My plan: to figure out which one to keep, and which to sell. I'd always wanted a Fuji camera, and I absolutely adore this genre of enthusiast point-and-shoots. Ultimately, my affinity for the GR won out, but there's no doubt that the X70 is a spectacular camera.WHY I LIKE THE GR BETTER:1. I like the GR's JPEGs and even its "film simulations" better. When I was primarily shooting my Pentax and Nikon DSLRs, I always shot RAW. Always. But the GR changed that for me. I fell in love with the Positive Film JPEG preset and I've shot pretty much exclusively with it (with occasional detours to High-Contrast B&W) since. The X-Pro1 is the only Fuji I've used extensively before this (I wrote the review for Adam's other site, camera-enthusiast.com), and I liked its film simulations well enough back then. But I've played with the X70's simulations pretty extensively and I don't like any of them as well as Positive Film (not even Classic Chrome!). Then there's the actual quality of the JPEGs. I guess I just don't like the X-Trans look, but the JPEGs out of this camera look a little muddy to me at 100% and just generally aren't as crisp as my GR shots. There's also a surprising amount of NR at relatively low ISOs. I'm sure that can be tweaked, but I've never been one to do that. The GR just works for me out of the box and that's what I want. Obviously, this is very personal.2. I like the GR's controls better. It may be that I've just been shooting the GR for too long, but the X70's manual controls (while undeniably cool) just tend to get in the way for me. They're also not laid out as well. The left button on the d-pad, for instance, is right up against the edge of the tilt screen, which makes it really hard to hit. The playback and trash buttons are way too small and finnicky. The X70's touchscreen is nice for tap-to-focus, but I'm a center point/focus and recompose guy 95% of the time, so I don't get much use out of it.3. The X70 feels too nice. This is probably dumb, but I handle the X70 really carefully because it's so beautifully made that I'm afraid of damaging it/scratching the paint/etc. I hate the lens cap—never thought I'd say that, but I love that I don't have to worry about stashing one when I use the GR. The GR (strangely) feels more rugged and reliable, like I can just throw it in my bag and not worry.4. I really love the GR's horizon level.Again, minor and maybe dumb, but I love the fact that the GR's level does both roll and pitch. The X70's, in contrast, only does roll.WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE X70:1. The screen. I think the GR actually has the better display, but the articulation of the X70's screen is a real godsend for off-angle shots.2. It's beautiful. Going back to #3 on the dislikes, this thing is gorgeous.3. Like the GR, it's very customizable. You can customize a total of 8 function buttons, plus the control ring around front. Pretty impressive.4. The AF is indeed faster. This isn't a huge deal for me (see above comments about being a center point/recompose shooter), but there's no denying that the X70 has an edge here.5. The electronic shutter is a big plus. The GR's built-in ND filter more or less does the same thing w/r/t wide-aperture bright light shooting, but being able to shoot completely silently is pretty awesome.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little camera perfect for street shooting, with great image quality in low light, fast responsive focusing,
Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2016
    Fuji X70 Review

Bought this camera as a walk around street shooting companion that I always have on me in case I come across a moment I want to capture. Already a Fujifilm shooter (I have the X-T1, X-T10, and a number of lenses), the X70 is every bit as good as the other two Fuji cameras I have, in terms of IQ (quality), speed of the autofocus system, and the amazing colors straight out of camera without having to do much post.

The articulated viewfinder is incredibly useful, I find myself using it as a waist level viewfinder. Plus the ability to use the screen to set focus points, or tap to focus and shoot is great when trying to document situations when you don't want to make it seem obvious that you're shooting photos. I honestly don't find the lack of a viewfinder all that bad, considering my style of shooting. Even in broad day light the viewfinder is quite usable.

The camera is nice and compact compared to my X-10, and slips into a coat or jacket pocket easily; the fixed 18.5mm (28mm) pancake lens hardly moves when powered on. I also like how quickly the camera wakes up from sleep to take a shot, it is very responsive.

A very useful feature is that the camera can create a wifi network for your smartphone or tablet to connect to using a very user friendly app, to view download images, control the camera remotely, and in the case of your smartphone, use its GPS to tag location data to your photos. This is awesome! I don't have to remember where I took the shots, as its embedded in the photos! It keeps the connection to the camera for an hour. During this time, you can power off your camera, and when you power it back on, it will reconnect by itself!

I find the battery life to be okay, on par with the other Fuji X-series cameras, I always carry 2-3 around just in case. One feature that I like on the X70 that I wish Fuji had on the X-T1 / X-T10 is being able to charge the battery in camera with a micro USB cable.

Some things that be improved upon would include the ability to manually turn of the screen to conserve battery between shots. You can set the auto-shutoff to 2 minutes, which isn't bad, but it be nice for more options. Also there is no included cover plate for the hot shoe, I found it a bit uncomfortable, but fortunately I had the plate from my X-T1 that I wasn't using since I bought a thumb grip for it.

Great camera for travel and street photography. The price might seem a bit steep for mint condition but I gotta tell you this is basically brand new minus the manual books. Everything is in great working order and it came with all the important accessories. Seller was super friendly too
