I received this pack as a gift and mainly use it for canyoneering. The first trip I took the pack on was a mountaineering trip up Mt. Sill in the Sierras. The pack performed great for the trip, hauling ice axes and crampons easily. It was a one day overnight and the load carried was too much for the pack, but that was my fault.

My first canyon trip was Upper Jump Trip. I was very excited to have a "waterproof" lightweight pack. My pack started to get heavy, and low and behold the pack is full of water, even after the roll top was rolled as many times as possible. I was glad I double dry bagged important items.

After Jump Trip I return home and filled the pack with water. There were 4-5 pinholes in the bottom and side. This material is not as durable as stated by Arcteryx. I am gentile with my gear and do not abuse my gear. I did not have time to send the pack is for warranty repair before my next trip, so I patched the holes with Aquaseal.

The next canyon was Seven Teacups near Kernville. The pack filled with much less water now that the holes were patches, about 16oz of water entered the pack over about 4-5 hours in the water so that's pretty good. Water appeared to leak into the flimsy roll top. Filling the pack at home revealed a leak out the seam tape behind the shoulder straps (so much for the ultra tight tolerance seam tape). I will have to patch that region as well. I will look intro a way to beef up the roll top, similar to a rigid elastomer like on Sealine black canyon dry bags.

If you get this pack and expect it to be waterproof, be prepared to go over the seam tape and patch any small holes. The AC2 material is not as durable as advertised. Maybe I got a bad copy.
