Customers are satisfied with the performance of the braid. They mention that it works well at wicking up molten solder from circuit boards for removing it. Some say that it does well enough for their purposes. The braid itself works well, and it works great on small electronics. Some mention that the width of the wick is thin, which makes it great for small components.
"...But I found this really easy to use, and it did its job well! Little bit of heat, and it sucks away all the solder that it can...." Read more
"...Works great." Read more
"...Yes it cost more, but it actually works. I was removing through hole headers...." Read more
"Good wick that works well usually without having to reflow the joint to get the wick to work." Read more

E. A. S. Y. Peasy! I just put the end of the wick onto the joint being de-soldered, applied the hot iron tip for a few seconds and could see the solder wicking up into the braided wick! Using wire cutter, I cut the used 3/4" or so off every couple joints to get fresh edge/end. After maybe 3 minutes, simply pushed out the old relay. Then using a fresh edge of thenwisk, kinda "hot mopped" each point with the wick and iron to clean each point. Slid the new relay through the board and soldered it down.
Whole thing done in about 7 or 8 minutes. And that old Onkyo is back in service!
I'm by no means a technician or repair guy but have always been one to DIY things and have a very broad knowledge base on basic repairs of different things. This was my first time de-soldering with wick, and not sure why I didn't get this stuff before! Works great.

This stuff's the real deal.
IME it works far better than the "eh it's all the same" stuff you can pick up for half as much (or less).
I've had a handful of rather stubborn PTH boards with long DIPs on my bench that got pretty jacked up and needed a lot of repair after using cheap braid — even with the assistance of a flux pen — that came clean almost effortlessly with this stuff and the same flux. The wick was the only variable.
YMMV, though for my money keeping one of these on the bench and one replacement on hand is a lot cheaper and less frustrating than accidentally overworking a board.
It's great to have a roll of this around even if you don't de-solder much - it can be a lifesaver if you mess up while soldering and bridge a joint or something. You can also re-use it if you need to do a high-current bodge.
It's really hard to describe how much better this wick is than the usual no-name stuff you can grab at an electronics store. You really have to try it yourself.
It takes something that can be very frustrating and tedious and makes it enjoyable just to watch it suck up solder like a paper towel wicks up water. It wicks so well that I can usually get a through-hole completely dry, while other wicks I've used sometimes can't pull all the solder out of the hole.
Highly recommended.
